Rebecca Young is a narrative designer, researcher and lecturer based in Melbourne, Australia. Her primary areas of expertise are participatory narrative, interface design, visualisation, and motion graphics. She received her doctorate in 2012 from RMIT University. Her doctoral project, Remembering Bogle Chandler won a 2008 AToM award for Multimedia, and was finalist in the 2009 South by Southwest Awards for Interactive Art, Austin Texas. 
Since 1990 Rebecca has worked extensively in the film, television and new media industries as a film editor, graphic designer, illustrator, animator, and programmer. Past clients include ABCTV News, Natural History and Drama, SBSTV, Channel 10, The Australian Children's Television Association, The Museum of Victoria, Museum of the West, Film Victoria, 21C magazine, Mainstreet Theatre Company and Mother's Art. Her work has been exhibited at Rhizome at the New Museum (New York), Javamuseum Forum for Internet Technologies in Contemporary Art (Cologne), 404 Festival (Rosario, Argentina); Electrofringe Festival (Newcastle); and The National Gallery of Victoria. Her work is in the following collections: Rhizome ArtBase online archive; Artist Network Database; Interactive Narratives; Online News Association; and the ELO Library of Congress/Archive-It Project.

She currently works at RMIT University where she is Program Manager for the Master of Media program in the School of Media and Communication.
